Pagan Pride 2017 - Walking Meditation

Pagan Pride Parade

I was lucky to catch the beginning and end of the parade as they walked, chanted and drummed their way through Nottingham's city centre to The Arboretum.

It was an uplifting, glorious and empowering sight. The sound of "We are Pagan! We are proud!" ringing around Market Square. The sight of people being true to their energy, their joy and their spirituality. A celebration of individuality, uniqueness but with a powerful message of togetherness.

Bringing the Goddess

What to wear to a Pagan Festival when you're an earth goddess?

A charity shop, some home grown ivy and the energy of the Goddess created a beautiful photoshoot recently with Patrick King Photography. This was the feeling, the serenity, the power of Eve, the mother, the healer, the seeker, this was what I wanted to bring to the space for Pagan Pride.

Eve's Temple Walking Meditation

I was blessed to be granted a workshop spot at Pagan Pride this year. I decided to bring my Talk Your Walk, walking guided meditation to The Arboretum. I was given the beautiful, tranquil Rose Garden as my space. The Rose Garden seems oddly named as there aren't any roses...

Roses are my favourite flowers, pink and orange roses to be precise. With pink roses meaning unconditional love they seemed like the perfect gift to the goddess circle, as well as a beautiful intention to open the meditation.

It was a gorgeous sunny day and draped in pearls and my pink goddess dress, I was ready to guide a beautiful meditation walk.

We worked with various group and personal meditations on the day, meeting back at the circle of unconditional love each time.

Pulling from the Earth, downloading from the sky

This is a meditation I love to do before Tarot readings or if I need a bit of a boost. It really connects you to the earth and space around you, grounding you and lifting you at the same time.

You can work with your chakras, the elements, God and the Angel, Mother Earth and Grandfather Sky or a communion of them all.

Start standing or seated. Breathing naturally. We will start with our first 3 chakras - Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus (Red, Orange and Yellow) - the elements of Earth and Fire, drawing energy from the core of the earth through the ground and into those base chakras. Asking for the grounding energy of the EARTH and the passion and strength of FIRE.

Next we look to the sky, working with Crown, Third Eye and Throat Chakra (White/Violet, Indigo and blue) Downloading wisdom, calm, clarity. Imagining a white light pouring through the top of our head and into our hearts. Here we call on the Air and the Water.

Pulling up from the earth and downloading from the sky we meet in the middle at the Heart chakra. A beautiful healing green.

Let this energy form a ball of light and love. Send it out into the world, to your family, community....

Bring it back into your heart and let it fill you with love. Give your self a great big HUG and come back to the room.

Affirmation

On beautiful handmade paper I had written affirmations and put them in a box. Each participate was asked to pick one and pass the box on, trusting that this was the message they needed. As I pointed out, sometimes the message will be contrary to what they currently believe or see in their lives. This is an opportunity to adopt a different view.

The participants were then asked to walk around the garden at their leisure and contemplate the message.

Senses

The Rose Garden is split into 4 quadrants, for each of these we focused on a different sense. First we consider what was in the present with us, what could we see, hear, feel and smell in the Rose Garden at that moment. We then contemplated a question associated with each sense.

See - how many shades of green can you see?

"What does beauty look like?"

Hear - what can you hear?

"What does joy sound like?"

Touch - touch everything! touch gently, touch with pressure, touch with your elbow, your cheek?

"What does safe feel like?"

Smell - what can you smell? Smell yourself! What does your skin smell like? your hair?

"What does home smell like?"

Circle of Love

Our final group meditation was the Circle of Love. Standing around the rose circle of unconditional love we held hands, each sending love to the person next to us with our right hands and receiving love with our left. Sending this beautiful love around the circle and finally returning it with gratitude to Mother Earth.

Leaving the garden I left a rose on the sign, my offering of unconditional love to all who would pass by.
